Religious Studies at Samuel Lister Academy

Course description

Religion is one of the most important and fascinating areas of study, even for people who do not hold religious beliefs.  Helping or hindering mankind, religion has been the major force shaping the world we live in.

Course content

Religious studies students will study topics such as the cosmological argument for the existence of God; the problems raised by evil and suffering in the world for the religious believer; the purpose and function of religous language and the validity of religious experience.

 

Entry requirements

Students need to have atleast 5 GCSE's grade A-C including English and Maths

Assessment

This course involves essay based answers in exam conditions so it is important that students enjoy writing and reading a broad range of texts.
