Supporting Teaching and Learning in Physical Education and School Sport Apprenticeship Level 3) at Worthing College

Course description

Apprentices will complete a combination of  qualifications that develop competence, knowledge and skills. Example units include:-

  • Organise and lead a sports event or competition.
  • Support gifted and talented learners.
  • Understand child and young person development. 

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally have achieved a mix of A levels and/or other qualifications such as BTEC Level 3 courses. Applicants will  have also normally completed English, IT and Maths GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications e.g Functional Skills Level 2). Applicants may have also completed a previous apprenticeship at Level 2. Previous Sports Leadership experience and/or National Governing body coaching or officiating qualifications would be desirable. 

Future opportunities

Apprenticeship:

Dependent on career progression and role successful apprentices could undertake a Management apprenticeship at Level 3 or 4.

Further Education:

There are a number of Sports Coaching, sports science or PE teaching degrees offerred at UK or overseas Higher Education Institutions.

Employment: 

Various roles coul be available once you have completed this apprenticeship. Typical roles could include; Teaching Assistant or Sports Coach.
