Music Technology at Bishop Luffa School
Music technology plays a key role in music across the world. This qualification is designed to open up a range of excitingand useful tasks to a wide candidature, and to encourage students to learn about the subject. You are encouraged to explore your musicality and create original materials using technology. There are many important opportunities in higher education, and many career possibilities for those proficient in handling music technology.
Students who would benefit most fromstudying a GCE in Music Technology are likely to have a Level 2 qualification such as a GCSE in Music at grades A*- B. You should be aware that performing skills need to be at the standard of Grade 5 for AS Level, and Grade 6 for A2 at the time of assessment. A grade B in a creative/technology based subject might also be considered.
Pupils who have not studied GCSE Music are considered on an individual basis, with equivalent additional or alternative musicalexperience or interests being of primeimportance. It is expected that all pupils will perform regularly in at least one school choir or ensemble.
