Office Administration: Business Professional (Level 2) at Central College Nottingham

Course description

You will study a variety of qualifications which are relevant for use in the modern office environment. The course is suitable if you have little prior knowledge of IT and wish to continue or update your skills.

Course content

Units studied include:

  • Working in Administration
  • Written Business Communications
  • Verbal Communication in Business
  • Organising Business Travel and Accommodation
  • Career Planning in Administration
  • Text Production
  • Word Processing
  • Speed Keying
  • Certificate in IT (IT Users) ECDL

You will have the opportunity to resit GCSE English Language and Maths or Functional Skills.

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grades A*-D including English Language and Maths*
  • A relevant Level 1 qualification including GCSE English Language and Maths* at grade A*-D

*If you do not have both GCSE English Language and Maths at A*-D, we may accept one of them at Grade E in addition to your 4 GCSEs at A*-D. Functional Skills may be accepted instead of GCSE English and/or Maths. Functional Skills Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE Grade D and Level 2 to GCSE Grade C.

Adults who are aged 19+ without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

Assessment

For the Diploma in Administration, units are assessed by written assignments, case studies and witness statements. The Text Processing qualifications are assessed by set examinations.

Future opportunities

Successful students may be able to progress onto a Level 3 Business qualification.

Career Opportunities Include

Administration Assistants, Receptionists or Personal Assistants in a medical, legal or a general office

To support your application we will ask you to bring in a school report.

The course is delivered over 3 - 4 days a week (15 hours). It is recommended that you have paper, pens, calculator and a memory stick for transferring your work from home to College. You will be notified of any course books that may enhance your learning by your tutors.
