Motor Vehicle City & Guilds Entry Level 3 Certificate at Doncaster College
This is a practical course, making excellent use of the College's well equipped modern workshop.
You will learn how to maintain a modern motor vehicle by carrying out tasks such as changing spark plugs, removing and replacing suspension dampers, all building up a good understanding of how a motor vehicle needs to be maintained and looked after.
The course consists of 12 units, ranging from Health and Safety, Careers in the Motor Industry to Interim Servicing and Other Vehicle Systems.
Alongside the main motor vehicle qualification you will also have the opportunity to improve your Maths and English skills and gain an Award in Cycle Maintenance. All of these go towards completing your programme of study.
Applicants should be able to provide evidence of achieving 3 GCSE's at grade G or above, including Maths and English.
You will be assessed completing a series of tasks, designed to allow you to demonstrate both your practical skills and knowledge. These tasks are intended to show your ability and that you are able to progress to the Entry 3 Diploma or Level 1 Certificate in Motor Vehicle.
Successful completion of the course will give learners the opportunity to progress to the Entry 3 Diploma in Vehicle Technology or Level 1 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance.
After further study you will have the opportunity to work for franchised dealerships Independent fast fit centres National fast fit chains
Fast fit technicians work in separate workshops or along side other vehicle technicians. Their main duties will include:
- Testing batteries and other engine parts to find faults
- Checking tyres and exhausts for defects
- Replacing or repairing faulty parts Balancing and re-aligning wheels
- Offering customers advice on simple maintenance issues
