Mathematics - A Level at Bourne Academy

Course description

The course aims for you to:

• Develop an understanding of mathematics and mathematical processes

• Develop abilities to reason logically and recognise incorrect reasoning, to generalise and to construct mathematical proofs

• Extend your range of mathematical skills and techniques and use them in more difficult, unstructured problems

• Develop an understanding of coherence and progression in mathematics and of how different areas of mathematics can be connected


Course content

Students who study A-Level Mathematics go on to use this qualification to study an extremely wide-ranging and varied number of courses in further education, not just Mathematics. These include medicine, engineering, computing, psychology, and business and finance.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade B or above in Mathematics
