Studying BTEC IT requires a passion for computing and a strong interest in technology. There is potential for this qualification to prepare learners for employment in the appropriate vocational sector and is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a particular area of work. The course is suitable for anyone who sees their future career in IT or computing. It covers a wide range of to pics specifically for those who want to become involved in IT but who are not sure which specialism to follow. The course blends together a mix of theoretical and practical topics.
The BTEC in IT is a two-year course consisting of mandatory units and a specialist optional unit. The units listed are a sample and may change slightly in September. This course takes place in one option block and is broadly equivalent to one A level. Alternatively, students can study the course for one year and gain a BTEC Certificate in IT which is broadly equivalent to AS Level. It could be studied alongside other BTEC subject or AS & A2 subjects.
You should have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics or English Language. In addition you should have passed the CIDA Level 2 Diploma in ICT with at least a Merit or GCSE ICT pass grade C.
