Vehicle Maintenance City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate at Doncaster College

Course description

This course is designed for people with an interest in the motor industry.  This is a theory & practical course making excellent use of the College's well equipped modern workshop and classroom based resource.

The course provides a further step into operation, repair and servicing of motor vehicles.  The skills you will learn include how to work safely, in an organised way, how to service the modern vehicle, change lubricants, safely remove and replace break pads, safely remove and replace suspension and steering components.

Course content

​The course consists of 8 units, ranging from Health and Safety, Careers in the Motor Industry to Interim Servicing and Removing and Replacing Components from a range of Vehicle Systems.

Entry requirements

  • ​4 GCSE's at grade D or above including Maths and English.

Or

  • Level 1 Certificate/Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Maths and English at grade D or above.

 

Assessment

​You will be assessed completing a series of tasks, designed to allow you to demonstrate both your practical skills and knowledge.

These tasks are intended to show your present ability and assess your suitability to progress via the Apprenticeship route.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course will give you the opportunity to enter the Industry as a Light Vehicle Technician, or further your study as an apprentice at Level 2.
