Performing Arts (Acting) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

On this course you will learn about all aspects of the performing arts, becoming part of the college's own theatre company. In addition to developing your practical skills through a range of workshops and performances, you will attend lectures, undertake research and spend time reflecting on your activities.

This course is ideal for anyone who is passionate about a career in the performing arts. It is suitable for learners who are progressing from Level 2 Performing Arts, and provides the opportunity for further study at university or drama school.

The course will give learners the opportunity to study and develop the skills and disciplines they need in order to perform on stage or screen. Students will explore a range of styles and techniques including:

  • Classical Theatre
  • Contemporary Theatre
  • Musical theatre

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language and/or Maths, or successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification.

Assessment

Each of the 18 units studied over two years will be assessed through formative and at least one summative assignment. Most acting assignments will have a balance of practical and theoretical content.

Future opportunities

Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting/Dance), employment, progression to a university or drama school.
