What is the Employment Related Services Apprenticeship?

This Apprenticeship supports those who help people looking for employment. You will work for an employment service provider such as Recruitment Agencies, Schools and Colleges delivering careers advice, Prison Resettlement teams, Armed Forces Resettlement teams and deliverers of Not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) services.

What roles could I be doing for the Employment Related Services Apprenticeship?

As a Personal Adviser or Job Coach you would be responsible for working one to one with individuals to identify needs, strengths/weaknesses and job/career aspirations in order to help achieve a positive employment outcome; or development plan leading to a positive employment outcome. Alternatively, as a Job Broker or Employer Engagement apprentice, you would be responsible for employer liaison, generating opportunities to gain and sustain employment. You could also work as a Customer Liaison apprentice, responsible for initial screening and developing relationships with customers and employers to gain and sustain employment.

You can gain a qualification in Employment Related Services to further your career or even just obtain a certificate for what you currently do without the need for going to college or university. You can complete the qualification at work with the support of a highly qualified training advisor and an online portfolio.

An Apprenticeship in Employment Related Services is an internationally recognised qualification that provides the essential foundation and development of skills.

The course of the qualifications enables individuals to advance within their role working in community learning and development, further education, higher education, teaching support, libraries, archives and information services, or work-based learning and development.

You will work towards the nationally recognised Employment Related Services qualification. The Employment Related Services apprenticeships are usually done over a 12-18 month period. However, the length of time taken will depend on the course, the ability of the individual apprentice and the employer’s requirements.

Course content

Employment Related Services Apprenticeship - 3 & 4 allows an individual to learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification. National Vocational Qualifications are designed to meet the standards set by industry in occupational areas. They are designed to cover various aspects of a job or area of work, assessing skills actually used in the workplace.

The Technical Certificate develops understanding and skills which can be adapted to a work setting. Functional Skills are the skills which are most commonly needed to succeed in a range of activities, learning to use and adapt communication and number skills in a range of settings and contexts. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills are assessed throughout the programme.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required but individuals should be enthusiastic, motivated, reliable and prepared to work hard. Good communication skills are essential and it is important to be understanding and show respect for others.

Assessment

Individuals will be assessed by observation in the workplace, by completing a portfolio of evidence or E-Portfolio and by completing a variety of externally marked assessments. Support is offered in the workplace.
