Psychology AS/A2 Level at Chichester High Schools Sixth Form

Course description

In Year 12 you will study 6 topics: Social Influence e.g.why we obey and conform; Memory e.g. use models to describe how memory works; Attachment e.g. discover why our first relationships are so important; Approaches in Psychology e.g. look at the various ways we can describe behaviour; Psychopathology e.g. characteristics of OCD and Research methods e.g. explore the ways in which psychologists obtain information.

In Year 13 the topics that will be covered include Biopsychology e.g. flight or fight response; Issues and Debates e.g. explain why gender bias can skew knowledge.

The final three topics will be selected from nine options which include relationships; gender; cognition and development; schizophrenia; eating disorders; stress; forensic psychology; addiction and aggression.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in English and Science.


The assessment will include 3 examinations, each 2 hours long at the end of Year 13. You will be tested using multiple choice, short answer and extended writing questions.
