Graphic Arts UAL Diploma / Extended Diploma Level 3 at Colchester Institute
This is a broad based programme designed to help you gain skills and knowledge in various areas of Graphic Arts including illustration, animation, photography, typography, and 3D design. You will explore digital software and practical, hands on, approaches including drawing and penmanship. The Graphic Arts Diploma course is particularly appropriate for school leavers and mature students who have an interest in graphic design and computing arts.
Blending traditional design techniques with interactive digital processes, you will produce a variety of work suitable for branding, multi-media platforms, moving image, advertising, print and publishing, gaming and smart technologies. The course is taught through a combination of digital, drawing and craft workshops, lectures, independent study and critical self -appraisal, visual presentations and peer group activities.
Depending on your grades on entry, you may also study Functional Skills and/or GCSE English and Maths.

5 GCSEs (grades A*-C), including English, maths and an art and design subject, or satisfactory results in a relevant Level 2 qualification, and an interview with a portfolio of artwork.
Animator, illustrator, graphic design and communication, branding, interactive design, advertising, printing, publishing and character games development.
On successful completion of this one year programme you can continue your study of Graphic Arts on a one year Extended Diploma Level 3. Alternatively students can choose to study for the Art and Design Foundation Diploma, or Creative and Digital Media Apprenticeship. Depending on your age and prior attainment, some learners may also progress to Higher Education, for example to a BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme.
