Music Technology A Level at Pimlico Academy

Course description

Music Technology, like other forms of technology, advances rapidly. The specification involves practical work and the cultivation of a wide range of skills. Students will have opportunities to sequence MIDI, sequence Audio, record live instruments, produce CDs and compose using music technology. A Level Music Technology has been widely accepted by higher education and will continue to provide valuable experience and preparation for students aiming for Higher Education in the subject. Music Technology careers could include work as a sound engineer, record producer and teacher.

Entry requirements

-Students should have studied GCSE music or BTEC 1st Certificate in Music Technology.
-Students are not expected to know how to play an instrument however good keyboard skills are an advantage. Good listening skills are also important to success in Music Technology.
-Students will have the opportunity to perform, record and work with professional musicians and students from other sixth form centres.
-Students will have the chance to work with musicians in the school to record performances and assist with making professional sounding recordings of students.
-Students will have the opportunity to use industry standard studio equipment.
