Performing Arts AS at Charles Darwin School

Course description

This course is designed to introduce you to three areas of the industry. You will plan an event and work with your group as part of a production team. It will be your responsibility to organise all areas from the administration, marketing and ticket sales to the lighting, sound and set design. You will create a report and action plan to evidence the process and your contribution. You will choose one of the performance disciplines to explore and develop. As par to this practical development you will keep evidence of your journey in a portfolio demonstrating your understanding of what skills you have explored and evidence of your improvement. You will devise a performance piece lasting at lest 30 minutes. You will be marked upon your skills and ability to perform. This is a completely practical exam. All three parts are equally weighted.

Entry requirements

Ability to sing, dance, act or play a musical instrument. English at grade C

May lead to careers in the arts, teaching, any career involving team work and organisational skillsYou may be invited to participate in the Year 13 show as well as your own
