English - GCSE at Bolton Sixth Form College

Course description

For students who have not achieved grade C(4/5) in English or English Language, you are required to re-sit this one year course

Course content

Students will have two lessons per week with highly-experienced and dedicated GCSE English teachers.  

GCSE English links with every other subject as the written and verbal skills that you will develop are essential for the successful completion of all Level 2 and 3 courses.

 

Entry requirements

Students should have grade D/E (3) GCSE English, or Literacy or English Functional Skills Level 2.

Assessment

The qualification consists of a written examination (40%) Written coursework (40%) and Speaking and Listening Coursework (20%).

Financial information

No course fees are applicable for 16-18 year old learners who meet funding regulations.

Future opportunities

GCSE English is a vital qualification. You will find it very hard to achieve a place on a university course or further education and training without it. GCSE English is also a requirement of the majority of employers.
