Our investment into your future has led to the development of our fantastic new building, the Advanced Technology Centre (ATC). This £10.5m investment means that we can provide you with state-of-the-art technology including industry standard CNC (computerised numerical control) machines, CAD-CAM, industry quality centre lathes, milling machines and so much more! The environment mirrors the industry you’ll be progressing to and helps you to prepare for the world after education.

Our tutors have come from industry and have a passion and dedication for sharing their years of experience and industry-relevant information with you.

Our courses not only help you on your step-ladder to success in Engineering but also include opportunities in developing industry-relevant skills that you can take into the workplace, to develop maths and English skills, opportunities to progress to Higher Education, apprenticeships and employment.

You pathway to Engineering starts here…

A very much practical, hands-on based course covering a wide range of Technology subjects.

Successful learners will have the opportunity to pursue their studies to degree level at university, a HNC programme at Blackpool or an apprenticeship in industry within a local or national organisation.

Course content

Course consists of a range of units which may include: Engineering Design, Computer Aided Design (CAD) , Robotics, Mechanical Principles, Mathematics for Engineers, Material Science, Rapid Prototyping, Welding, Fabrication, Machining, Practical Project, Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM), Engineering Drawing, Programmable Logic Controllers(plc's).

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and Science OR a relevant Level 2 Diploma at Merit or equivalent qualification.

Assessment

Individual / group practical work and continuous assessment.

Future opportunities

Progression onto Higher Education here at Blackpool or other universities OR to a career in industry through an apprenticeship.
