Construction Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Coleg y Cymoedd
This is a ‘top-up’ one year Level 3 qualification aimed at people who would like a professional career in the construction and property industry. Typical careers include: architecture; civil engineering; building surveying; quantity surveying and land surveying. Alongside the Diploma you will also complete the Welsh Baccalaureate which will improve your employability skills.
During the year you will six units from the following depending if you follow a construction or building pathway:
- building surveying & building regulations
- project management & science and materials
- graphical design & CAD.
Civil engineering pathway:
- topographical surveying & setting out
- civil engineering and science & materials
- further mathematics
- project management.
Studying for the Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales 'fits in' with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising. The Welsh Baccalaureate also provides the opportunity to study Essential Skills Wales qualification at an appropriate level.
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including Maths and English or successful completion of a Level 2 in Construction. Equivalent vocational experience or qualifications will also be considered.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
You will be assessed through a programme of both practical and theory based assignments.
FT Registration Fee - £20.00
On successful completion of this course you may undertake a full time degree or HND at university. Alternatively you could obtain an apprenticeship and study part-time for an HNC or part-time degree.
