Chemistry - A Level at Bexleyheath Academy

Course description

Chemistry is built on the foundation of electrons. The subject of chemistry involves a lot of practical work throughout the 2 years and students will also be able to apply the knowledge they have learnt to the specification they will be following.
In year 12 students are introduced to organic chemistry where they will be learning the basic synthesis of everyday organic compounds. It also involves an advance on previous knowledge on kinetics and energetics and builds on their foundation of chemistry.
Year 13 builds further with the AS knowledge and students look more into drug synthesis as well as enjoying the physical side of chemistry.
Requirements during the course:
- 5 hours a week minimum on revising notes, researching in chemical texts and journals.
- Completing past examination papers, which can be found online.
- Attending revision sessions for missed work and help on topics.
