Introduction to Building Services - Plumbing Level 1 at Hackney Community College

Course description

This is a foundation level qualification specifically for 16-18 year-olds where you will learn the basics of plumbing. It’s a one year, full-time course which covers health and safety, cold and hot water systems, bathroom fittings and how to use materials of the trades. Most of the course is practical, but there are a number of written assignments to be completed.

 

Course content

Theory work will be done in classrooms and practical sessions will be conducted in fully-equipped workshops.

The course runs over 2.5 days a week and you should be able to successfully pass this course without the need to do extra work outside of your lessons. However, you may feel the need to complete extra studying in order to pass your Functional Skills Mathematics and English which are essential if you wish to progress on to a Level 2 course.

City & Guilds online multiple choice tests and assignments which cover the practical aspects of the course.

 

Financial information

·         16-18 year-olds do not have to pay tuition fees on FE courses

·         many 16-18 year-olds may be eligible to receive a bursary

·         many 16-18 year-olds can receive a Free College Meals pass (depending on eligibility)

·         Transport for London student travel cards are available.

·         Re-sits, CRB fees and other incidental costs are to be paid when due.
