Animal Care Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

As an Apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds; you will earn a salary and gain real experience in the workplace with your employer as well as working towards a nationally recognised NVQ and other qualifications. Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study. This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over. Apprenticeships are available at level 2 and level 3. 

Course content

This course will provide you with a knowledge base for a range of careers in the animal care industry or progression to university. You will develop your skills in the workplace and attend College for theory based subjects including health, safety and security, handling and restraint of animals and movement of animals.

• Employment, for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with training in the workplace • You will work towards a Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) plus functional skills and employment rights and responsibilities 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English and maths OR a Level 2 related qualification. Relevant work experience will also be considered Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed in the workplace by portfolio building, on the job assessment, presentations and some exams. 

Financial information

Apprenticeship training is currently fully funded, however this is subject to change.

Future opportunities

This course will prepare you foor a range of careers in the Animal Care industry or progression to further study, at university or Animal Welfare and Behaviour HNC at college

Further information

On completion of this course you will receive a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Work Based Animal Care.
