Level 2 Land-Based Technology at Newton Rigg College

Course description

This well established qualification is recognised by the industry as demonstrating technical capability to work in the land-based technology and agricultural engineering sectors.

Course content

Course Themes:

• Applying mechanical principles • Services and maintenance • Material preparation, shaping and assembling • Thermal joining and cutting processes • Tools use and maintenance • Health and safety practices • Tractor driving • Work experience • English and maths

Entry requirements

Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade E or above including Maths and English (with Science desirable). Alternatively a suitable level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1

Future opportunities

Further study:

A Level 3 course such as the Extended

Diploma or an Advanced Apprenticeship.

engineer, arable farm machinery operator or fitter.
