Course description


This is a certificate course in Food Production and Cooking.
It provides the underpinning of key skills, knowledge
and understanding to work in the hospitality industry.

This course is for students who:

  • enjoy working with food.
  • can apply their own knowledge skills and enthusiasm to the subject
  • want to develop practical skills
  • want to link theoretical learning and the world of work

Portfolio of evidence
Each of the units within the qualifications has specified assessment criteria.

The course is a 16 credit qualification that consists of 3 mandatory units –
Plus 4 credits from option group A and the remaining 7 credits from Optional
group A or B providing a total of 16 credits

Future opportunities

Hospitality and Catering is a specialist course that will lead
to employment or Level 3 courses. It is also an important Life
skills course relevant to all. It can lead to a variety of other
courses and careers in the Hospitality Industry. It is a good
course for those wishing to work with others.
