MATHEMATICS A LEVEL (RPA) at Richmond Park Academy - RPA

Course description

This course will develop your understanding of mathematics and mathematical processes to promote confidence and foster enjoyment. It will develop your ability to reason logically and recognise incorrect reasoning. It will also develop your ability to generalise and to construct mathematical proofs. It will extend your range of mathematical skills and techniques and enable you to use them in more difficult, unstructured problems. This course contains applications of mathematics in statistics and mechanics.

Course content


  •   A 1 year course containing pure maths, statistics and mechanics.

A Level

  • A 2 year course containing pure maths, statistics, modelling and mechanics.

Entry requirements

Mathematics GCSE grade A* / A or grade 7 or above

Future opportunities

Mathematics supports A Levels such as the sciences, computer studies, economics, PE and business studies. For some university courses - computer science, engineering and accountancy, for example - maths A Level is essential. Students applying for social sciences degrees will find this A Level a useful entry tool, particularly the application of statistics. The logic and reasoning skills you will develop on this course will be a plus throughout the world of work.
