Course description

This course follows successful completion of the BTEC Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film & TV) (Year 1) and is equivalent to 3 A Levels. 

Course content

Mandatory Units in year 2 BTEC Level 3 180 credit Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film & Television)

  • Unit 4 - Creative Media Production Management Project
  • Unit 5 - Working to a Brief in the Creative Media Industries
  • Unit 6 - Critical Approaches to Creative Media Products
  • Unit 16 - Film and Video Editing Techniques

Optional specialist Units in year 2 BTEC Level 3 180 credit Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film & Television)

  • Unit 15 - Developing a Small Business in the Creative Media Industries
  • Unit 22 - Single Camera Techniques
  • Unit 28 - Corporate and Promotional Programme Production
  • Unit 35 - Producing Video Installation Work
  • Unit 57 - Photography and Photographic Practice

In addition students may be required to participate in the key skills programme and / or other complimentary studies, subject to College approval.

 

Entry requirements

Successful completion of the BTEC Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film & TV) (year 1) course.

Assessment

Each student’s performance will be regularly assessed and course places may be reviewed. Where appropriate, a place on a media course at a more suitable level may be offered.

This in turn allows progression onto University to do a

  • foundation degree,
  • Higher National Diploma in a related subject

or employment.

Further information

The duration of this course is one year for the 180 credit Extended Diploma after successful completion of the 1 year BTEC Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film & TV).

Induction and Probation - For the first half term students will be set a variety of projects and participate in a range of skills-building exercises and tests.

During this time a students place on the course will be subject to their attendance, punctuality, motivation, ability to meet deadlines and overall work ethic, in addition to the development of their practical skills.

Each student’s performance will be regularly assessed and course places may be reviewed.
