You will spend 3 days in school and 2 days in a local placement where you will be assessed by a qualified early years Assessor who will support you in the practical elements of the course. During work experience days you must attend at least 3 different placements over the course of each year in order to gain experience of working with a variety of age groups and related specific needs that are specified within the 750 hours placement requirements.
This course has been running successfully now for over 5 years and students either progress into full time employment as this is the only industry recognised qualification at level 3, alternatively you can progress onto higher education.
This is a two year full time Early Years and Childcare qualification which also includes a placement two days per week to enable the student to build up a portfolio of practical experiences along with a minimum of 750 hours in a suitable early year’s environment. The qualification attracts A Level equivalent UCAS points for Higher Education however students may prefer to enter employment upon successful completion of the course as this is the only Level 3 industry recognised qualification for the early year’s sector.
A GCSE level 5 in Maths and English, you do not have to have studied health and social care previously. You will also need to be reliable and fully committed to attending placement 2 days per week. Please note a DBS check will need to be carried out at the start of the course to ensure suitability.
This is the only industry appropriate level 3 qualification that early years Nurseries and Child Care establishments require. It is practical and relevant. The course is therefore suitable for someone who is looking for a career with young children or for those who require UCAS points to enable them to progress into higher education.
