Chemistry - AS Level at Skinners' Academy

It is expected that you will have achieved a GCSE grade B in Chemistry or Science (Double Award) or the equivalent in another Level 2 qualification. The qualification integrates theory and relevant practical work, alongside a focus on how science works in the real world. You will therefore also need to be able to communicate effectively, research, think critically about chemical problems and apply knowledge and skills in different contexts. There are 6 units, all of which are mandatory. At A2 level, all units contain some synoptic assessment, which involves the drawing together of knowledge, skills and understanding from different parts of the course and applying knowledge is new contexts.
for AS level – a minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above, usually with a Grade B or above in the subject to be taken at AS level or in an associated subject. for A2 level – candidates should normally have obtained a pass at AS level, preferably at grade C or above.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as Biology or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Chemistry, which could lead onto higher education in science related subjects or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Chemistry or one of the other sciences such as a Doctor, Nurse, Scientist or Pharmacist.
