Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Travel and Tourism at Telford College Of Arts And Technology - TCAT

Course description

This course will provide you with a good grounding in basic
knowledge, skills and understanding of the exciting travel &
tourism industry which is one of the UK’s largest sectors, currently
employing over 2.5 million people. Areas of study include UK and
overseas destinations, marketing, the cruise industry, customer
service, planning events. Much of the work is based on practical case
studies and includes visits to local tourism organisations. In addition
students will have access to simulated work experience through our
own restaurant The Orange Tree. Full Time Study Programmes are
built around a collection of key elements which all students benefit
from, these include:
 
• Main Qualification in the subject of your choice
• English & mathematics qualifications for all students who have not
yet achieved A*- C grade in either subject
• Work Experience or External Work Placement which is planned
with you at the start of your course and links to your career goals
and ambitions
• Weekly Tutorial with your personal tutor
• A wide range of Enrichment Activities to support your broader
skills, such as team work or communication

Entry requirements

 

4 GCSE @ D including English or Maths (or full Level 1 @ M or D including L1 F/S)

Assessment

Units are assessed throughout the year through assignments,
coursework, observation of practical activity and some exams

Future opportunities

Various opportunities within travel agents, airlines, tourism
attractions, events management, hotels, restaurants, and transport
providers or an Apprenticeship.

All students will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular
activities (trips and workshops) these will be at an extra cost.
 
Further Study
Students who complete this Level 2 Qualification at Merit level, can
progress on to the Level 3 Programmes.
