History AS Level OCR at Longdean School

Course description

You will develop analytical skills by comparing interpretations of historical problems and analysing and combining information from several sources. You will develop communication skills through clear, logical, written argument. You will develop an understanding of the basis of modern Britain and the wider world by studying some colourful individuals and dramatic conflicts. You will study 2 Units for AS Level in Year 12: Unit 1: British History Period Study. Henry VIII - Mary (1509-58) Unit 2: European History Enquiry. Dictatorship and Democracy in Germany (1933-63) How is the course examined or assessed? You are assessed by 2 written exams

Entry requirements

GCSE History or English Language at grade B or above.

Future opportunities

You can progress to the study of History, Politics, Law or managerial training at university. History is regarded as an excellent general training in the sifting and evaluation of information. This can help you to make well-balanced judgments and decisionsYou will follow this course with two or three other AS levels or an Advanced Diploma and, additionally, the compulsory core such as PSHE, RE, PE/Games. You can carry on to do A2 History.
