Barbering Advanced Apprenticeship Diploma Level 3 at New College Nottingham

Course description

If you're a passionate barber and you would like to take your cutting and styling skills to the next level, a Level 3 Apprenticeship is great option.

You'll study alongside your work in the salon, underpinning all the skills you have with the theoretical knowledge which will get you to the top of your field. This is a challenging but rewarding qualification, you'll improve as a hairdressing professional and by the end of your Apprenticeship you'll have the confidence and skills you'll need to pursue your dream career path - whether that be setting up your own salon, becoming a session stylist or working in specialist industries such as film and television. 

Course content

You'll study many different units which will all enhance your skills and abilities as a hairdressing professional. As well as different hairdressing techniques and styles, you'll also study English, maths and ICT at Level 2 which will support you in your theoretical and practical work.

This course consists of the following:

- Advanced cutting
- Colouring/colour correction
- Perming
- Hair extensions
- Photographic & session work
- Barbering
- Employment Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)
- Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS)
- Functional Skills Level 2 English, maths and ICT

Entry requirements

You need to have the following:

Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, plus GCSE English or Maths at grade A*-C, or equivalent. Functional Skills may be accepted in place of GCSE English and/or Maths.

Assessment

Your workplace tutor will continually assesses your practical and theory work and an internal verifier will visit you to monitor your progress. You'll be required to keep a portfolio of evidence generated in the workplace and there will be theory-based tests at the end of each unit.

Future opportunities

You could go onto exploring other hair and beauty specialist courses at Level 3 or even become a trainer or assessor yourself.
