Business and Law BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at Hugh Baird College

Course description

The course will provide you with foundation skills for a range of careers or progression to university. It will encourage you to develop personal qualities which will be applicable to your working life.

The course will build on your office skills and prepare you to take on a responsible position within a business environment. The programme will also include maths and English to help you achieve you future career aspirations. Assessment is continuous and you will complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that all aspects of the course have been completed to a satisfactory standard.

Entry requirements

  • 4 GCSEs at grade A*-C including Maths and English

or

  • Business Administration – Level 3 or other relevant Level 2 qualification at Merit or above and be working towards GCSE maths and English at grade A*- C

You will also need good communication and research skills and an interest in Business.

Entry to all courses are subject to a successful interview, a satisfactory reference from your school or employer and evidence that you will be a committed student

Assessment

Assessment is continuous and you will complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that all aspects of the course have been completed to a satisfactory standard.

Further information

If you are aged 16-19, this qualification will form a substantial part of your study programme. The study programme has been designed to ensure that young people are fully equipped and ready to move on to the world of work or higher level courses. In addition to your main qualification, will you also get the opportunity to undertake relevant and CV bolstering work experience out in your chosen industry. You will also be supported through maths and English qualifications.

      The Merseyrail Bootle Oriel Road station is only a two minute walk from the College campus. This station is on the Northern Line and offers easy access to the College from Liverpool, Crosby, Formby, Southport and other areas.

      The closest motorway junctions are the M58 1a/ M57 Junction 7 – 3.7 miles (6km). Then follow the A59 towards Liverpool for approximately ten minutes, turning right onto the A5058 at the first roundabout, which leads onto Balliol Road.
