Sport - Football Development Academy Level 2-3 at City College Brighton and Hove

Course description

You will receive specialist coaching from a UEFA
Licensed Coach for a minimum of six hours each week
and play competitive matches in local and national league
and cup competitions.

Course content

You will gain qualifications and coaching badges such as:

  • Sport BTEC Diploma (Level 2 - 3)
  • Coaching FA Level 1 Certificate
  • Emergency Aid FA Certificate
  • Child protection module
  • Sports Leaders Awards
  • QYQ Level 2 Gym Instructing

Assessment

  • Practical assessment (of football performance)
  • Practical Assessment of coaching
  • Coursework (portfolio assessment)

Financial information

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2016. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.

Future opportunities

The primary motive of this academy is to encourage young people back into the professional or semi-professional game and we have extensive links with the local and national footballing community to encourage this.

There are also opportunities to gain paid and voluntary employment in football coaching.

You will be required to have a high level of footballing ability and a strong sense of desire and commitment. You will also need to be physically fit. Entry onto a particular level of the BTEC programme will be dependent on your existing qualifications.

      City College’s new Technology Centre

      City College East Campus will be the location of a new £9 million Technology Centre. Expected to be completed in the 2016/17 academic year, this exciting new facility will be a leading educational and training hub for the next generation of construction workers. The centre has been specially designed so that students learning the different trades will be able to work together and follow each other through the construction process, mirroring true construction site conditions.
