ICT for Business BTEC Level 3 at Wanstead High School
Within this programme, students will complete the BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Information Technology (equivalent to 1.5 A levels) and the BTEC National Certificate in Business (equivalent to 0.5 A levels). .
The programme is divided into two separate years of study. At the end of the first year, students will have completed units equivalent of two AS levels in Business for ICT.
The programme is designed to develop skills in the use of ICT within the modern business world and as such is also very applicable to anyone wishing to pursue a career in business or to progress to a business degree programme.
Within the ICT for Business programme, we will cover the following units, of which the first four are mandatory and the last two chosen as options.
1 Information Technology Systems
2 Creating Systems to Manage Information
3 Using Social Media in Business
5 Website Development
6 Mobile App Development
This will be taken alongside the BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Business, consisting of the following units:
1 Exploring Business
2 Developing a Marketing Campaign (E) (S)
Grade A*-C (4-9) in English and Grade A*-C (4-9) Maths.
These qualifications carry UCAS points and are recognised by HE providers as contributing to the admission requirements to many relevant courses. When studied with other level 3 qualifications in complementary or contrasting subjects, such as Mathematics, Physics, Science, Arts or Technology, the qualification provides an opportunity for students to progress into higher education on a wide range of full degree courses, depending on the other subjects studied. However, it also enables students to develop the knowledge and skills needed for entry level roles related to Business and ICT, including vocational apprenticeship roles and trainee/entry level roles in business, software development web/content development, mobile apps design, games design, programming and IT/business analysis support.
