Hairdressing Apprenticeship Intermediate Level at Guildford College
As a Hairdressing Apprentice, you'll be working towards the role of a junior stylist. This course covers practical hairdressing skills and real work activities, resulting in an NVQ 2 Diploma.
You need to be employed full time in the industry and be committed to training for up to two years. This course is designed for those wishing to acquire a nationally recognised qualification in the hairdressing industry on a part-time basis.
As a Hairdressing Apprentice you will spend a lot of time on your feet, and it is important that you look smart. Good communication plays a role too – you will need to understand exactly what your customer wants in order to make them happy.
Apprentices in these areas will work closely with clients and will need the ability to put them at ease, and generally be personable and pleasant.

You will also cover Employer Rights and Responsibilities (ERR).
Good GCSEs an advantage and you must be in relevant employment.
You should be reliable, enthusiastic, have a smart appearance, friendly manner and an interest in fashion.
You must be salon based full-time.
You will be required to achieve Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1.
We look for such personal qualities as reliability, a positive and professional attitude. A friendly manner and artistic flair are also desirable.
Good organisational skills would be an advantage as portfolio work is a compulsory part of the programme.
Continuous assessment throughout the course in the workplace and at College via practical observations and online tests.
Costs: books approximately £25, equipment approximately £105 and uniform approximately £60.
At Apprenticeship level you would be working as a trainee or junior. You could progress onto Level 3 which entails a supervisory role.
