Course description

Music A Level comprises Component 1: Performing - Approaches to Performing, a public performance of one or more pieces, performed as a recital; Component 2: Composing, a total of two compositions, one to a brief set by Pearson and one either free composition or also to a brief, Component 3 - Appraising, knowledge and understanding of musical elements, contexts and language.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C grades including 4 or 5 in Maths and English Language if part of a Mixed Pathway or 8 A*-C including 4 or 5 in Maths and English Language if part of a A Level Pathway. B grade or grade 6 in the A level chosen to study.

Future opportunities

This course can lead to further study at degree level in either music, arts and media or any subjects that require 2 or more A Levels as an entry requirement. It is an academic qualification widely recognised by institutions world-wide. There are a huge amount of jobs in the UK in the music industry and Music A Level is an excellent qualification to have for those who want to pursue a career in this area.
