Outdoor Instructing Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bishop Auckland College

Course description

Apprenticeships are practical hands on programmes designed to provide you with relevant, practical training, which will enable you to progress within your chosen industry. As an apprentice you will be paid a minimum of 2.68 an hour if you are under 19 or over 19 and still in the first year of your apprenticeship programme. You will be employed between 30 and 40 hours a week.

Course content

You will be required to complete the NVQ in Activity Leadership and the Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor Leadership. As well as completing Employment Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. If it is required, you will also need to complete Functional Skills in Mathematics and English. You will be allocated an assessor who will visit you in your work place to provide support with the NVQ and you will attend Bishop Auckland College 1 day a week to complete theory work.

Future opportunities

The apprenticeship will provide you with valuable work experience within the Outdoor Industry, assisting with a variety of activities and work-related tasks in the Outdoor Industry environment. The apprenticeship will also provide you with nationally recognised qualifications which are sought after by employers in the current climate.


What can I do when I finish?

Progress to the Level 3 (Advanced) Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership or onto a full time course.

Materials needed

You will need to wear appropriate clothing/kit for the outdoors. This will be fully discussed with your employer/assessor upon the commencement of the apprenticeship.
