Social Care Level 3 at East Kent College

Course description

Perfect if you want to further develop you skills and knowledge to progress in a care related career.

Course content

You’ll learn specific skills in areas such as Dementia Care, Mobility Support, Person Centred Planning and Personalisation along with units covering Medication Handling and Mental Health Awareness. You will also spend two days a week on a work placement to help you put your skills into use in a care context.You can look forward to using on-site facilities which include a domestic-home setting and a clinical ward room.This Study Programme will include English and Maths at an appropriate level, and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at C grades or equivalent, including Maths and English. Students may be able to progress from Level 2 vocationally related programmes.

Assessment

You will learn through practical demonstrations and assessment will be through written work.

Financial information

If you are 16-18yrs old at the start of the Study Programme, it will be free. There may be additional payments required for trips, visits and other materials. If you are aged 24 and over an Advanced Learning loan may be available if you are studying at Level 3 and above. To find out if you’re eligible visit www.24plusmicrosite.com/eligible-tool. What next? On successful completion you could progress onto our workplace learning Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care programme or gain employment within the health or social care industry.
