Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence (AASE) Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Bicton College

Course description

The Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme is designed to meet the needs of young women aged between 16 and 18 who have the potential to achieve excellend in rugby, whilst pursuing education.

This is a 2 year course running alongside the Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma's in Sport, OR alongside other educational routes at Bicton College.

Course content

The framework for this course contains a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), which is fully reflective of the broad range of competances required to be successful in rugby, such as technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game. It also addresses wider issues of being a high performance player such as lifestyle, communication, career management and health & safety.

This framework also includes a BTEC in understanding how to acheieve excellend, the theory / knowledge and understanding underpinning the competancies

Entry requirements

  • Your initial assessment results show that you are working at or towards Level 2
  • 5 GCSE's at grades A to C, including English Language, Maths, PE or Science
  • You will also need to be playing at a minimum of County Standard - preferably divisional level

Future opportunities

Following successful completion of the course, progression routes include playing professionally, higher education (such as HND / HNC route) and many other career options, such as instructing, coaching and managing teams.
