ICT - Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma at West Coventry 6th Form (Woodlands Academy, Tile Hill Wood School, Westwood Academy)
This course will provide you with a practical application of ICT, which will equip you with all the skills needed to enter into higher education or employment. The course is assessed through 100% coursework, and as such is extremely suitable for those who prefer this method of assessment. The course combines different areas of ICT to ensure that all students get the grounding that they need to be effective digital citizens.
Students will produce 6 units of coursework across the two years, which consider amongst other things: - Employment and skills in ICT; - Animation and using flash software; - Producing and editing an interactive website; - Interactive media authoring; - Internet security. It is the perfect combination or creative and technical subject matter!
Standard entry requirements of 5 A* - C including English and Maths. It is not essential to have previously studied ICT for this course.
Year 12: 100% coursework – 3 units of work completed Year 13: 100% coursework – 3 units of work completed
This qualification is particularly valued because of the real-world relevance and close alignment with industrial practice, leading to: - Higher Education; - Apprenticeships; - Employment. It fits well with a range of other A Level Choices
Students are assessed from the start, and includes producing reports as well as completing practical ICT-based tasks. Teaching and learning may involve group work, teacher led activities, discussion, independent research and analysis of existing businesses. Students are given detailed guidance and support on assessed tasks, and will also be required to be highly-motivated to ensure tasks are completed to deadline. Feedback is provided on all tasks to allow students to strive for improvement and to ensure that they can maximise their achievements.
