Health and Social Care Extended Certificate Level 2 at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This course will provide education and training for those who wish to pursue a career in health or care. It will provide the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification and allow students to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. You will study ten units one of which has a direct relationship to the mandatory work placement.

Human Lifespan Development (external exam) Health and Social Care Values Effective Communication in Health and Social Care Promoting Health and Wellbeing The impact of nutrition on health and wellbeing Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care Individual Rights in Health and Social Care Healthy Living (external exam) Human Body Systems and Care of Disorders Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care

Entry requirements

To gain entry to this course you must possess a full and relevant Level 1 qualification including at least either English or Maths at Level 1 or four or more GCSE’s at Grade D or above including English and Maths or other equivalent qualifications acceptable to the College. You will also need a good work placement / work experience report and a good school / college reference as well as a character reference. It would be helpful to have a GCSE qualification at Grade D or above in English and Maths. You will undertake and require a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure Application "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

2 externally examined units 8 internal coursework assessed units

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course, you can seek employment in the Care Sector or progress to a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care with a satisfactory placement reference and overall achievement with higher grades.
