Light Vehicle Repair and Technology Level 1 Certificate at City of Bristol College

Course description

This one year course is ideal for school leavers and mature students who wish to study and gain a recognised Level 1 qualification in motor vehicle repair and servicing. This programme will provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you’ll require to perform basic car maintenance checks, adjustments and component part replacement and the required wider skills you will need to progress on to the next level course.

Course content

Course modules include: • Health & safety practices • Tools, equipment, materials and hand skills • Routine vehicle servicing • Engines, cooling and lubrication systems • Air, exhaust, fuel and ignition systems • Wheels & tyres, braking, steering and suspension systems • Transmission and Electrical systems • Functional skills • Contextual maths and English.

Entry requirements

• 3 GCSEs at Grades D-G • Entry Level 3 Motor Vehicle qualification (optional) • Record of achievement showing good attendance and punctuality.
