Business Studies A-Level at Christ's College Finchley

Course description

The Business Department at Christ’s College Finchley offers the chance for pupils to research and apply business theory to various business organisations. The exploration of profit and non-profit sectors allows pupils to gain an insight into business activity.

At KS5 we follow the Edexcel Applied Business course. Pupils have the option of studying Single Business (6 units) which equates to 1 A-level or Double Business (12 units) which is the equivalent of 2 A-levels at the end of Year 13.  The units comprise of coursework and exams. All pupils will carry out research and develop their own Business Plan. This allows students to develop independent research and analysis skills where they will identify the aims and objectives of their proposed business, marketing strategies and a detailed financial forecast for the business.

Our Business Studies programme will prepare those who wish to enter the commercial world with developed skills in:

  • Analytical ability
  • An understanding of figures
  • An insight into marketing and accounting
  • Problem solving
  • The honed skills of presentation and reporting

Preparing our students will allow them to have the confidence and ability that are the qualities sought after by top level recruiters.

And in the words of Seneca, Roman Philosopher:

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

Entry requirements

For studying at Advanced Level
