Plumbing Level 3 Diploma at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*

Course description

This course includes both theory and practical elements, like in the level 2 course, but focuses further on the installation and commissioning of systems.

Course content

The work will include, gas central heating installation, commissioning and decommissioning, unvented systems, servicing and fault diagnosis of gas appliances and the commissioning of plumbing works.

Entry requirements

Students wishing to undertake a Level 3 in Plumbing must have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma.


Targets will be set and agreed with your tutor; you will receive regular feedback and one-to-one reviews to ensure that you are on track to achieve your goals. Your practical work will also be assessed by your tutor and your portfolio will be assessed by our internal verification team. Parents can also monitor progress through the Pro Monitor portal.

Future opportunities

Once in employment, you can study NVQ Level 3 plumbing.

Be employed as a qualified plumber once the NVQ has been completed or as a heating engineer or start your own business.
