Management Apprenticeship Advanced Level 3 at Derwentside College

Course description

The Advanced Apprenticeship programme requires achievement of the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Management – combined (Competence and Knowledge) Qualification

  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (Level 2)

  • Recognitionof Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

  • Knowledge of Employee Rights and Responsibilities

Entry requirements

  • All learners starting an Advanced Apprenticeship programme must be employed in the relevant vocational area at the start of their programme. 
  • An offer may be made subject to successful Initial Functional Skills Assessment which demonstrates at least working towards Level 2 Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
  •  If the learner is assessed at below this level, an offer may be made on condition that the learner attends support workshops to achieve the required skills level.


The qualification is continuously assessed through evidence from workplace activities and the building of a portfolio of evidence.

Some elements of the course are assessed via successful achievement of workbooks and examinations.

Future opportunities

The programme provides a solid background for those wishing to move into management positions across a broad sector of the business world.

The aim of the programme is to enable apprentices to develop the skills, knowledge and experience that they will need to progress to higher level roles with additional responsibilities. 

The programme can provide an excellent platform from which to develop your career, progress to a higher apprenticeship in management or pursue higher level vocational qualifications.
