History A Level at Bristol Metropolitan Academy

Course description

The History A-level covers a wide range of topics. The AS year sees students study an in depth area of British History as well as an area of world wide significance. The topic of international significance is the rise of fascism. This study will look at the establishment of both Mussolini and Hitler’s dictatorship. The area of British History will be the Experience of Warfare (1854 – 1918) The A2 year sees students improve their knowledge of social history through a study of American Civil Rights 1963-1980. The A2 also expands students understanding of political history through a study of the Cold War between Soviet Russia and Capitalist America.

Entry requirements

GCSE History – B grade and GCSE English – C grade (B grade preferably)
