Analysing unseen passages from within two periods (1880-1910 and 1918-1939)

Section B: Unseen Poetry
Analysing unseen poem or extract from a longer poem.

Component 1: Poetry (Open Book Examination (30%)

Pre-1900 Poetry - The Merchant’s Prologue and Tale Geoffrey Chaucer

Component 1: Poetry (open book examination 30%)

Section A
Pre-1900 Poetry - The Merchant’s Prologue and Tale Geoffrey Chaucer

Section B
Post-1900 Poetry - Reading of a pair of poetry anthologies. The Whitsun Weddings, Philip Larkin and Mean Time, Carol Ann Duffy

Term 3
Component 2: Drama (closed book examination 30%)

Section A: Shakespeare (closed-book)
Antony and Cleopatra

Section B: Drama (closed-book)
The Duchess of Malfi and A Streetcar Named Desire

Term 1
Component 4: Prose Study (Non-Examination assessment (20%))

One 2500- 3500 word assignment based on the reading of two prose texts from different periods, one pre-2000 and one post- 2000.

Currently the choice of texts are:
Pre-2000: Jane Eyre or Wide Sargasso Sea
Post- 2000: Atonement or Spies

Component 2: Drama (closed book examination 30%)
