Health &Amp; Social Care - A Level (Ocr) at The Cotswold Academy

Course description

About the syllabus:

Health and Social Care is a broad-based vocational subject that has been designed to be applied to Care Sector environments, particularly those involving: Health; Early-Years Care; Education and Social Care.

The course encourages students to develop their interest, acquire knowledge and gain a greater understanding of issues affecting the Care Sector at large. Our students develop skills that can be applied effectively across the Care Sector including research, evaluation and problem solving in a work related context. This course also prepares students for further study and training. Prior study at GCSE is useful to students but is not essential.

The AS content of the Health and Social Care course focuses on the needs of clients as well as techniques and professional services aimed at meeting those needs. Students are assessed in the following key subject areas: Promoting Quality Care; Communication in Care Settings and Promoting Good Health.

The A2 course further builds upon the AS content, considering the issues involved in service delivery. At A2, students are assessed in the following key areas: Care Practice Provision; Child Development, and Social Trends.

As well as providing our students with essential practical skills and knowledge, the Health and Social Care course, by its very nature, encourages maturity and values consideration and compassion.
