GCSE Modern Foreign Language: French at Nether Stowe School
The AQA GCSE French syllabus is over 4 units:
Unit 1: Lifestyle
Unit 2: Home and Environment
Unit 3: Leisure
Unit 4: Work and Education
Optional Course - discussion with subject Teacher
Assessment will be over the above units in the four disciplines of reading, listening, writing and speaking. Reading and listening assessments will be in the form of an external examination which can be taken at either Foundation or Higher Level. Writing and speaking skills will be tested via controlled assessment tasks which will be taken in school but marked by the examination board.
You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Modern Languages and specialise in French or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to Languages such as a Teacher, Translator, or you may wish to use your French qualification to study or work over in France. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
