Music A level at Leyton Sixth Form College

Course description

The course enables students to develop skills in solo performance and encourages students to develop their technique on their main instrument or in singing. It also helps students to develop an understanding about composing and ways in which pieces of music are created and performed. Students also study selected pieces of music from the exam board’s anthology in preparation for a two hour written exam, and these are primarily pieces from the classical music tradition.

B - Music (or a successful audition for applicants without GCSE Music)

Future opportunities

Students find that these courses expand and consolidate their musical experience, either for personal development or as a preparation for higher education. It is an excellent course for students who wish to study classical music at university or music college.

All of our students perform regularly in a range of events. Our students are eligible for a ‘Season Pass’ allowing them to attend every event staged as part of the Leyton Season performance programme at a discounted rate.
