Health & Social Care at Altwood CofE Secondary School
Health and Social Care AS level is a vocational subject which develops skills for those interested in future careers in the following three areas- Health, Social Care or Early Years Services. It is a one year AS level course.
The specification builds on the GCSE syllabus and covers 3 mandatory modules. These are:
1. Promoting Quality Care- this is assessed by an external exam
2. Communication in Care Settings- this is assessed by a student portfolio
3. Promoting Good Health- this is assessed by a student portfolio
A minimum of Grade C at GCSE in English plus 4 further GCSE passes at C or above. GCSE Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential
