Level 3 Certificate/Subsidiary Diploma in Art & Design at Earl Mortimer College and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

This course is designed to offer students a sound grounding in a number of different areas of Art and Design, whilst still exploring the subject in depth. You will have the freedom to choose areas to study that are of particular interest to you whilst accommodating your range of abilities.

Emphasis is on developing an understanding of the role of Art in society and for the individual. You will follow a broadly-based practical course which allows you to work with many different materials and which leads to an endorsement in Art & Design. The Art Department has two rooms and is equipped for painting, printmaking and mixed media work, providing many opportunities to develop your skills and interests through experimentation and practice.

Further information

Previous study of the subject at GCSE level or equivalent will be of benefit to the student, but it is not essential. The course offers a sound basis for progression into further or higher education, and to enter employment where skills in art are necessary.
